Travel: A QWeek Singapore Trip

Before the summer ends, I want to make sure the little one gets to ride a plane again so we booked a very qweek trip to Singapore on very short notice. My daughter loves riding airplanes, so vacation for her means travelling out of the country. 😉

Being busy at work, we were still lucky to be given a week off especially my hubby who is Mr. Busy-Bee. So a qweek vacation was planned.

We’ve been to Singapore couple of times, the last being 3 years ago and we chose to visit again since we love amusement / theme parks and a visit to Universal Studios is one of the itinerary on our vacation.

Sharing with you our itinerary for 7 days in Singapore. 😉

Day 1 – Arrival at Singapore.

I booked Singapore Airlines (our fave Airlines) since the flight timings are perfect. Departing Dubai in the evening, arriving Singapore morning so we just have to sleep on the plane and our body clock won’t feel the difference that much. 😆

Places Visited: Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay Sands.

We took the shuttle tour since it was raining. We didn’t escape the hot weather in Dubai as it’s almost the same in Singapore though bearable to walk outside and the raining in the afternoon helps cool down the weather.

Hotel: Ibis Styles McPherson

I read reviews on affordable hotels and found this as one recommended by many travelers. The 15 minute walk from hotel to MRT is not for us though especially for a family with little children. There’s a near bus stop as well though you will still need to walk a bit and cross the road as it’s on the other side of the hotel.

The hotel is a budget hotel, pretty small but the room we were given is spacious enough and with a nice view. Add to that, we were allowed early check-in at no extra cost. It gave us then enough time to complete our itinerary of the day.

The staff are friendly, have a small but very cozy swimming pool especially at night. There’s a self-service laundry which is an added plus for a family travelling with children.

Day 2 – More walking and exploring.

Places Visited: MINT Museum, River Safari and Amazon River

Singapore is a walking city and when making itineraries, do consider the amount of travel time – walk, bus, MRT, taxi, waiting time in queue, etc. We spent so much of time walking especially finding the MINT Museum then a lot of walking and strolling around the Malls.

MINT Museum is a must visit when in Singapore. Brings back childhood memories because of all the vintage toys displayed there.

The River Safari is a very short tour, it would have been nice if we see plenty of animals closer but the cruise literally just turned around the part of the river. The Amazon River however is one to try. Last time we visited, my little one was not allowed due to height constraints so we were happy that this time she was able to join us and had fun on the small boat and seeing animals upclose.

Day 3 – Check-out from Ibis Hotel and Check-in at Hotel Michel.

Places Visited: S.E.A Aquarium, Adventure Cove Water Park and Trick Eye Museum

We checked-in at Resorts World Hotel located at Sentosa to avoid the hassle of travelling after a long day at the amusement / theme parks. This is one tip when travelling with small children and when you know you will be spending the whole day at a theme park.

I managed to get a promo of 3D/2N stay with all tickets included to: Universal Studios, Adventure Cove and SEA Aquarium valid throughout the duration of stay for 2 adults. The child ticket is discounted when we purchased at the entrance of these parks as we are booked in one of the RWS Hotels.

The view from our bedroom.

The hotel is very very nice. Very spacious and perfect view of Merlion. At night, it’s so nice to just sit by the balcony and watch the Merlion changes color.

We did not manage to enjoy their pool as we were out most of the time. It’s a plus to be within RWS hotel, when you get tired, you can just go back to your hotel, rest and freshen up then explore the area again. There’s also a free shuttle given to Vivo City – if you opt for more food options and shopping.

SEA Aquarium is good but very crowded when we went there. And for someone who lives in Dubai where we have the Underwater Zoo and Aquarium at The Dubai Mall and Atlantis, the SEA Aquarium is no longer a ‘must’ visit for us but we did went anyway since we don’t want to use the ticket provided by the hotel. 😉

Day 4 – Universal Studios. Whole day!

A tiring but always FUN day. It rained in the afternoon though so the Minion Party was cancelled at first and so hubby did not get to compete on the banana eating contest. 🙂

I suggest when you’re in USS to purchase the digital photo package so you get all hi-res digital copies of your pictures. Cost is $50 plus you get 1 free printed photo.

Day 5 – Chinatown, Vivo City, Orchard / Check-out from RWS and Check-in at Sheraton

We explored ION Orchard again, did a bit of shopping at Chinatown and foodtrip of course. The hot and humid weather did not made us stay longer to explore Chinatown. When you have little one in town, walking around during a hot weather is not adviseable.

See how sweaty she is? lol

Day 6 – Check-out from RWS and Check-in at Crowne Plaza, Changi.

We have full 5 days walking around the city so for our last day I wanted it to be just a complete chill and relax time. And I’m so happy that I booked the perfect hotel to end our very qweek itinerary. I made a separate blog entry for this.

As you see I did not include other tourist desti as we’ve visited them before. Also I don’t want to stretched too much this trip and visit so many places as we don’t want to tire ourselves too much especially my little miss.

So that’s it. Our 1 week trip to Singapore. 😉
